Okay, so I'll try and update the post a little bit more regularly. No guarantees!
As the first full weekend of November hits, the first full day of gun season opens for hunting deer. It looks like the preceding days are going to be quite mild, so we'll see what that will do for the rut.
Trail cameras set up around the land we hunt definitely shows activity of deer and bucks. Two sixes and and eight were spotted near the Duck Pond, which happens to be near the stand I'd like to put some "fanny" time in.
Although I like the hunting, it's really about the camaraderie of spending time with family and friends. Although my hunting has always been done with family, in one way or another, it's that time of year wear you can be together in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our hunting party doesn't put a whole lot of pressure on what you get, or getting something everytime you go out. That's why it's called hunting! I think a line similar to that came out this summer, although it was "That's why it's called fishing!"
The old stories, the old hunters, and the homages to those that were once with us, and still with us in their hunting teaching and knowledge, as well as our hearts.
Attached today is a picture of one of the smallest hunters I've had the pleasure of hunting with this fall. Although she'll be spending time in the house howling away, wishing she was with her friends in the woods, it obviously wouldn't be safe.
Unfortunately, only one reward was had in a two-day period where 13 rewards would've been much nicer!
